Welcome to my world of sacred medicines and the miraculous. My name is Darlene Joy. I have had the privilege and honor of working with plant medicines (entheogens) and medicinal herbs for over a decade. My experience has included living in Peru for over 6 years and have been a frequent guest as a healer and facilitator in various healing centers from the Amazonian jungle to the Andean mountains. I have been taught by and worked with several amazing Peruvian medicine people in traditional ceremonial settings. We provided healing and guidance to others from all walks of life that were seeking solutions for their health, a better quality of life, and a sense of purpose. I have been a witness to their extraordinary journeys that not only improved their lives but brought them into a deeper sense of their own "being-ness" and purpose. Their testimonies are numerous and their lives have been forever changed.
People are coming to these medicines as a result of questioning the effectiveness of western medicine in general and the particular medications that are prescribed to "manage" their conditions such depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and addictions. Though medications can temporarily relieve these symptoms, there are many side-affects and no long-term solutions in sight. It is my belief that traditional psychiatry and psychology understand their success rate is minimal. It hasn't been until recently that medical research is re-investigating and testing more effective treatment options with a focus on various types of medicinal plants for their curative properties and possible life-altering affects. It is through the failure of man-made pharmaceuticals and limited psychological understandings that once again we are turning to nature for solutions. When we use a natural resource for our health and wellbeing our bodies can more easily absorb the compounds that are needed without the multitude of side effects. This is not to say that we can ingest medicinal plants without considering the correct dosage and specific properties but when used properly the results can be much more effective, even life changing.
Nature continues to support humanity in healing and evolving, which cannot be replaced by synthetics.
